Paint your own item
Have something you already love? Let Shreya paint it.
Most of the pieces Shreya paints already belong to someone. A jacket worn for years, a saree kept for one occasion, a bag carried every day. If you have something in mind, send photographs first and she will tell you honestly whether it can be painted.
What can I send?
Denim jackets, shirts and tops, sarees and dupattas, tote bags, handbags and accessories, and other fabric items. Whether a particular piece will work depends on its material, the surface and any coating on it, its condition and construction, and what the artwork itself needs. A water-repellent finish, heavy zari work or a badly worn surface can each rule a piece out, and it is better to know that before anything is posted.
Before you send anything
Nothing should be posted until we have both agreed it makes sense. The order matters:
- 01 Send photographs and details The item, its label if it has one, and clear pictures of any wear, fading or existing print.
- 02 Tell us the idea A sentence is enough to begin, along with any references you have.
- 03 Shreya checks whether it suits painting The material, the surface and the condition are looked at against what you want painted on it.
- 04 Anything that worries us is discussed If the piece is unsuitable, or the design needs adapting to work on it, you hear that before you commit.
- 05 The quote and creative direction are agreed Price, timing and the artwork direction, all confirmed with you.
- 06 Only then is the item sent And only where posting it is the right thing to do.
How the design is agreed
How the direction is shown to you depends on the project. It might be a written description, a discussion around references, a rough sketch or a layout suggestion. Placement, colours and the level of detail are talked through either way. Whichever form it takes, the final creative direction is confirmed with you before any painting begins.
Your item's condition
Something you already own is not replaceable, and it is handled that way. Shreya looks the piece over before starting and tells you anything she notices. What she cannot change is how the item was made or how it has aged - a thinning weave, an old stain, a fabric that behaves unexpectedly under paint - and those inherent risks stay with the owner. If we think a piece is too fragile to paint, we will say so rather than take the commission.
Getting it here and back
Return shipping is normally included in your quotation, and pieces are delivered across India. Anything unusually large, heavy or fragile is discussed with you separately, so there are no surprises on either side. Your piece is packed once the paint has fully cured.
Looking after it afterwards
Pieces are painted with fabric colours, dried thoroughly and heat-set where the material allows, so the artwork bonds with the fabric rather than sitting on top of it. We recommend gentle hand washing in cold or normal water with a mild detergent - no soaking, no bleach, and no hard rubbing over the artwork. Dry it in the shade, and iron inside out or under a cloth. Care guidance for your particular piece comes with it.
Would you rather we found the item?
That works too. For some projects Keshav Canvas can source a suitable jacket, shirt, tote or canvas for you. Tell us the size and the fit you like and we will suggest options, with prices, before anything is bought.
