Hand-painted sarees and dupattas
The most demanding thing we paint, and the most personal.
A saree is a long, flowing, largely unstructured canvas, and it is almost always worn for an occasion that matters. That changes how it is approached: the design has to work on the pallu, along the border, and on a body in motion, not just flat on a table.
Fabric comes first
Cotton, chanderi, and lighter silks take hand-painting well. Heavy zari work, very sheer organza and some synthetic georgettes are difficult or genuinely unsuitable, and we will say so rather than take the commission. Send photographs and, if you have it, the fabric composition.
Where the design sits
Pallu compositions, running border work, scattered motifs across the drape, or a single statement panel. Because a saree is draped rather than worn flat, we plan placement around how it will actually fall on you.
Occasion timelines
Sarees are usually needed for a specific date — a wedding, an engagement, Navratri. Hand-painting a saree takes considerably longer than a jacket, so the earlier you enquire the more we can do. We will tell you plainly if a date is not achievable.
Care
Dry clean is safest for silk. For cotton, hand wash cold and separately, and dry in shade. Never fold along a painted line for long-term storage — roll it instead.
